A 2018 CPSC recall (18-114) covered some Mosquito Magnet traps — Patriot/Patriot Plus and Executive among them — but only units built between December 2014 and December 2016, serials PT01438–PT01642 and EX01444–EX01637. The hazard was cleaning the trap while it was still running with a Quick Clear Cartridge kit, which could damage the gas regulator. One incident, no injuries. Two 2006 field trials in the Journal of the American Mosquito Control Association found no meaningful drop in biting pressure; a third found real reductions at one trap per acre on an isolated island. One safety note that applies to maintenance specifically: never clean the trap while it is running.
